Christmas Mini Sessions at The Ruby Manor, Brampton
If you want your family's Christmas photos somewhere with real character, The Ruby Manor is where I shoot my Brampton Christmas mini sessions. It's not a plain rental studio — it's a restored 1862 heritage home on the border of Brampton and Mississauga, and every December I set up my holiday minis in its elegant, French-inspired rooms. I'm Jo — I photograph families across Toronto and the GTA — and Ruby Manor is the studio I point Brampton and Mississauga families toward when they want holiday photos that feel a little more special.
What is The Ruby Manor like?
The Ruby Manor is a heritage estate at 8028 Creditview Road in Brampton, right on the Mississauga border, built in 1862 and carefully restored with its original architecture intact — detailed millwork, tall windows, and the kind of timeless bones you can't fake in a modern space. It sits on expansive manicured lawns, and the rooms fill with soft natural light, which is exactly what makes it photograph so beautifully: natural skin tones, no harsh studio glare, and a warm, elegant feel in every frame.
For my Christmas minis I use two of its rooms, and each gives a different look — so you can choose the feel you want for your family's photos.
The two rooms I shoot — and how each one photographs
The Paris Room — "Christmas in Paris." French-inspired, with timeless whites and elegant golds. It's bright and sophisticated, and it photographs as luxurious, classic and charming — the room for families who want a refined, magazine-style holiday look.
The Milan Room — two looks in one. One side is chic black-and-white with silver accents; the other is soft creams with a panelled wall and frosted trees. Bright and elegant, it reads chic, luxurious and timeless — and because it's two-sided, you get variety without ever leaving the room.
Why I love shooting Christmas minis here
Two reasons. First, the character — a 160-year-old heritage home brings a depth and warmth that a blank studio wall simply doesn't, so your photos feel like they were taken somewhere, not just against a set. Second, the light and the space. The rooms are bright and roomy enough that I can move you around — by the tree, near a window, on the set — so even in a twenty-minute mini you come away with a variety of looks rather than one repeated pose. And for families in Brampton, Mississauga and the west GTA, it's a much easier trip than heading downtown.
Who are Ruby Manor minis good for?
Just about everyone:
Families, from a few people to a full group with grandparents in the mix
Couples who want one beautiful photo together by the tree
Babies and toddlers, including a lot of first-Christmas sessions
Expecting parents — the elegant, soft sets suit a maternity photo beautifully
Brampton and Mississauga families who'd rather not drive into the city
Please note: The Ruby Manor is a no-pets studio, so this location is for the two-legged members of the family. (If you'd love your dog in the frame, ask me — my Glasshouse studio in Richmond Hill welcomes pets.)
How do I photograph a Christmas mini session?
My style is documentary — candid and story-first, not stiff and posed. I'd rather catch your toddler reaching for an ornament, or the moment your kids start giggling, than line everyone up and count to three. My background is in weddings, where I shoot as a Fearless Photographers and WPJA member, and I bring that same eye for real moments to a twenty-minute mini. You'll get enough direction that you never feel lost — then I get out of the way and let it happen.

What should you wear?
The rooms are bright, white and gold, so warm, rich tones photograph best — burgundy, forest green, navy and soft neutrals in cosy fabrics. Coordinate your colours rather than matching exactly. Here's my full guide: what to wear for your Christmas mini session.
