What makes a great Christmas card photo?
After photographing hundreds of Toronto families, here's what turns a nice picture into a card:
Keep it simple. Candid smiles, cozy sweaters and gentle hugs always beat stiff, over-posed lines.
Coordinate, don't match. Soft neutrals — cream, beige, camel — with a touch of red, forest green or gold read beautifully on a card. (Full what-to-wear guide here.)
Lead with emotion. The best card photo is usually a real moment — a look, a giggle, a cuddle — not a perfect say-cheese.
Include everyone. Pets, grandparents, toddlers — the more love in the frame, the warmer the card feels.
Leave room for text. A little negative space beside or above your family gives the card designer room for "Merry Christmas" and your names.

From session to card in the mail
This is the part families forget until it's too late: your photos need to be back and printed before the holiday rush. Here's the flow:
Day 0 — your 20-minute session.
Day 5–7 — your gallery of 20 edited images arrives.
Day 7–10 — you design your cards (Minted, Canva, Vistaprint or a local lab) and order.
Day 10–14 — cards arrive; you address and mail them.
